Marandine is a silly pseudonym, result of a play of words inspired by Clementine,
the main character in my favorite movie:
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
I'm a self-taught photographer. I don't know the theory and I don't have a particular technique. I just like to capture shadows, silhouettes, reflections, lights and colors that make me vibrate. I am especially interested in observing how people interact with spaces in a natural way.
When we are tourists we change our perspective. We see everything in detail, each corner is subjected to an analysis. Birds on a wire that we would ignore at the sight of our house window, catches our attention in the City of Lights. A pair of ducks strolling through the water suddenly manage to make everything look like magic, the fog on a winter day makes our imagination run.. We ourselves move differently in a territory unexplored by us, we walk carefully, slowly, and suspicious of everyone. We are still us, but it is us in an unobvious way... (we become silhouettes).
Social entrepreneur, designer, traveler, observer & dreamer.
Mexican currently living in Portugal. Life brought me here & I love it!
I am fluent in Spanish, English and Portuguese.
I am one of those people in love with everything and nothing: Sometimes I like to take pictures, Sometimes I like to write. An avid collector of feelings and a lover of all things impossible.
I promote the social program SPEAK, which goal is to connect imigrants and refugees with locals, break the language and culture barriers and promote equality. I want to help create more tolerant, inclusive and multicultural communities, if you want to support my crowdfunding campaign, you can do that here.
You can see my design portfolio here: Valeria.
I also illustrated a children's book! You can buy it on Amazon.
